Moving Out/Moving In

So, my brother got married last weekend, the old factory closed on Tuesday, and Lisa August HQ closed Wednesday, it's been quite the week.  I took the bus to the train on Wednesday morning, to meet with the inspector at the new building, and it kind of felt like the first day of school.  I took the train to Woodside Thursday morning, and again, the new commute was very invigorating!  I know one day this commute will get old, but I'm loving that I'm loving it right now!

My partner, Lenore (aka Mom) met me a little later and we spent our day letting people in to consult about the building. Plumbers, the movers, our electrician, the Verizon guy(who was NOT happy), our computer/security guy, someone to make us a gate, etc...it was quite the whirlwind.  In between all of this, I went shopping for cleaning supplies(twice) and found us our lunch, along with menus from our new neighborhood.

We feasted on some Columbian roasted chicken and an awesome avocado salad.  It hit the spot, and we worked it off by cleaning the bathrooms.  The movers and plumbers got a fairly decent amount done in the first day, so I felt pretty good about things.  It's definitely overwhelming and intense, and I'm just so intrigued to see everything in working order.  I'm happy Lenore and I got to spend the day together (and it was a beautiful day out too) it really felt like we are partners-and we are!

I'm here at the factory now, and I SHOULD be packing up my office, but I decided to take a little break and share...ok gonna go get dusty again!

I got in there and looked out on the terrace, what a gorgeous day!  And yes, that little speck of buildings in the distance is Manhattan!

Claudia's desk was one of the few things brought upstairs yesterday, Lenore and I had our first "Meeting" there: lunch-it was productive.  I slipped the menus I collected into a drawer, a top priority to running a business.

All 9 (6 are shown in this pic) of our very important and very heavy tumblers were all put in yesterday, along with our compressor and the piping for the air.
Lenore and I put our feet up after a long day.  Feeling good! (and a little scared!)
Meanwhile, back at the old place...I've got to get a move on!!! (you should have seen it before!)

Lisa's Parts Are Getting Packed Up

Upon my return to the factory after my week at the NYNOW Show(gift show), some of my things were packed up, because alas, while at the show the lawyers finally agreed on some closing dates, the end is sort of finally near, apparently.  After all this time spent waiting, and dates changing, I don't believe it's happening til it does in actuality happen.  But, yes, there are boxes that are (sort of creepily) labeled Lisa's parts, 2nd Floor.  Lisa's parts are, you may have guessed it, all my parts.  Parts that I've made over the years, and vintage parts like buttons, miscellaneous trim and samples.  These are the parts I plan on making some one of a kind pieces to sell on LisaAugust.com in the very near future.
It's a mix of emotions seeing these boxes packed up.  I'm excited, nervous, sad, intrigued, the list goes on.  Little by little things are being thrown out, packed up, and we're all just trying to go with the flow.  This morning I decided to take a few pictures of some of the things we take with us.
Kind of a deal breaker, our acetate!!!
We have many skids filled with our material, should be quite interesting to get it all moved in
Box of Parts
Another of Many Boxes of Parts
You get the idea...
I'm looking forward to getting it all organized when we move in, so I can start playing with the parts and making up unique designs to sell to Lisa August fans.  It will happen....it will happen...it will happen....

On With The Show

This past weekend was our first trade show as Lisa August Inc.  A very exciting time for us! It would have been nice for there to have been a little more traffic at the show, but our feet are officially wet.  We were at the ENK Accessories Circuit at the Javits Center, and it was very interesting to be there as Lisa August instead of Bellissima.  We had some wonderful reactions from most people, who were excited to see we are still here after a year of not doing the shows.  Some reactions were unexpected, like the people who thought we took over or bought out Bellissima.  We kind of just became Lisa August, or we like to say: Bellissima had a baby, we named it Lisa August.  Some of my favorite reactions were questioning looks, and then people saying hey, wait, this is Bellissima!  Then I would step in and say, still us, just a little different! That's really the best way to describe how we've been feeling: still us, just a little different.

It was great seeing all who came, and we look forward to seeing more of you at the gift show in two weeks!  We'll be at the Javits again in personal accessories, booth#: 8650.  August 18-21.

It was nice to see Lisa August's name up there for the first time.  We do this show through Yvette Fry Showroom, located in Manhattan, where they permanently display our full line and work by appointment only.

The Booth all set up!

Our back table and the posters I made for the show

Our cute little necklace display.  Thinking about doing a full wall of these in January.

Lisa August Necklaces 2013

Finishing up my trio of posts about Lisa August's fall line are our necklaces.  Our chain necks are very popular,  because they are bold statement pieces that don't weigh you down.  The Italian acetate that we use to make our chain is highly durable yet lightweight, so you don't get that clunky feeling you find with most statement necks.

Our Bib Neck is our popular flat-link chain doubled and hung on grosgrain ribbon.  It's available in this great mod Zebra pattern, tokyo, jade, peacock and safari

Our Graduated Oval Chain was brought back into the line because it still sells very well, even when not in the line, I decided to stop fighting it and let it back in!

Our Multi-Colored long skinny chain is available in this striking 'deco' mix of graphic black and whites, black, tokyo and jade.  Our other combo is a neutral mix of tokyo, lapis, peacock, safari and gator.

This is our long and skinny chain.  It can be worn long or doubled, this is a great go to chain!  Available in Lapis, safari, tokyo and jade.

This is our Beveled Bar neck, on threaded chain.  It's a simple statement, and we love it.  Available in tokyo and jade.
This is our beautiful Triangle Bib chain.  It lays very nicely on the neck, and it packs a punch!  Available in the combination shown, or in an equally beautiful black & white, jade and tokyo combination.

Our flat link chain is very popular, a favorite for many and a true classic.  Available in Tokyo, gator, lapis, tuxedo and safari

Our new Mixed Link Chain is long and unique.  It's available in solid tokyo or solid jade, and available in the following combinations: lapis, safari, peacock and black.

Lisa August Bracelets 2013

Yesterday we focused on our earrings, today we focus on our bracelets.  Our bracelets are a very easy piece to wear.  We've got our cuff bracelets, which are always a great way to dress up your arm, and then we've got our bangles, fun to stack with all sorts of bangles. Here they are:

Our beveled bangle, available in black, jade and tokyo.  Plain and simple, wear it on it's own or stack it up!

Our beveled bangle embellished with acetate beads and gold collettes!

Our two inch cuff embellished with beads and gold collettes.  Available as shown, with black beads or in Lapis with turquoise beads.

Our two inch cuff shown in Jade (I'm wearing it right now!)

Our skinny bangles.  These are sold in sets of three, and you can never have too many!

Our tapered cuff.  So comfortable and simple in a good way.  Shown in Tuxedo.

Our tapered cuff with filigree embellishment.  Available as shown (lapis with black) and in tokyo with lapis

Our filigree cuffs, the perfect arm candy.  Both sizes are available in the four colors: black, tokyo, safari and lapis

Our chain bracelet.  The ovals are slightly bent so the chain lays nicely on the wrist.  Available in the four colors shown: Tuxedo, Jade, Tokyo and Safari

Lisa August Earrings Fall 2013

For the rest of this week, I would like to post about our line that is premiering this weekend at the Accessories Circuit.   I would like to dedicate today's post to our earrings.  All of our earrings are on surgical steel posts or gold-filled ear wires.  My favorite thing about our earrings are that they give you the ability to wear big statement earrings, but you can't really even feel that you're wearing a pair of earrings.  No stretched out holes, no feeling of being weighed down, no: I wear small earrings because the big ones are uncomfortable.  Good thing they're lightweight, because I must say, I did go a little big with almost all the earrings this season!
Our skinny hoops: a timeless bestseller of ours.  Available in three sizes: 1.5", 2" & 2.5"

Our Mod Circle Drop Earring: very popular, shockingly lightweight!

Our Cabochon Studs are adorable!  They come as shown tokyo w/lapis, or tokyo w/black or Lapis w/Turquoise

Our favorite Filigree Earring.  Intricate, feminine but bold too!

Maybe my personal favorite: Our Crescent earring.  Gives lots of fun movement, and it's such a pretty color!

These are our Oval Drop Earrings.  Available in  5 fun color combinations.

These cute little chandelier crescents are available in black and tortoise.

Ok, maybe this is my favorite.  Love the black and white pattern, these Triangle Chain earrings are bold, clean in design and super unique.

It's Almost Lisa AUGUST time!

So, it's been a long month of delays and red tape, what have you.  We find ourselves entering August still in our former Bellissima space but the closing is in sight.  Also in sight are our first two trade shows, the big Lisa August premiere!  We set up for the ENK show this Friday, August 2nd.  Pretty hard to believe, but looking very much forward to it! Then we do it all over again for the Gift Show, new name: NY NOW, apparently.  We'll be finishing up some last minute show preparations this week, but I must say, other than the fact that we haven't moved into our new space (a minor set-back-haha) we are all set for our big reveal-so come see us!
